Symmetrical broadband
Symmetrical broadband uploads as fast as it downloads. Most UK broadband uploads far more slowly, which matters for video calls, sending large files and backing up to the cloud. It is offered on some full fibre networks, at the addresses they reach.
12 current offers from Zzoomm, Grain, YouFibre, Highland Broadband, The One Broadband, as each seller states them, in order of monthly price.
Who it helps
People working from home on video calls, creators uploading video, and households backing up photos and files.
Check your address
Symmetrical plans run on particular full fibre networks. The provider’s address check shows whether one reaches your home.

What to check before you choose
- The upload speed, not only the download
- Whether the network reaches your address
- The contract length and any stated rise
- Setup costs
- That the plan’s speed is to the router: Wi-Fi and devices can be slower
Common questions
- What is symmetrical broadband?
- A connection whose upload speed matches its download speed, offered on some full fibre networks.
- Do I need symmetrical broadband?
- It helps if you upload a lot: video calls, large files, cloud backups. For streaming and browsing, download speed matters more.
