Questions
What Wisemium can and cannot do.
Straight answers, including the ones where the answer is no. The things Wisemium deliberately does not do are the reason you can trust the rest.
Bills, subscriptions and monitoring
Can Wisemium keep track of my household bills?
Yes. That is the part Wisemium was built around. You add the bills and services you actually pay for, energy, broadband, mobile, insurance, subscriptions, rent or mortgage, water, council tax, and Wisemium keeps them in one place with what they cost and when they renew.
Most money apps start with a bank feed and show you what you spent last month. Wisemium starts with the bills and services themselves, because that is where the money goes and that is the part people find hardest to stay on top of.
Can Wisemium tell me when a contract is ending?
Yes, once it knows the date. Renewal and contract end dates are exactly the kind of thing Wisemium watches, because they are the moments when prices change without anyone deciding.
It can only watch a date it has been given or has read from a document you confirmed. Wisemium does not guess a renewal date, and it will say a date is unknown rather than invent one.
Can Wisemium find subscriptions I have forgotten about?
It can help you see them together, which is usually the problem. Once your regular payments are in one place, the forgotten ones tend to become obvious.
Wisemium builds your financial picture from the bills and details you give it. Where a supported bank connection is used, it is read only and can never move money, and Wisemium uses the payments it sees to help find the services you are paying for.
Does Wisemium need my bank account?
No, and it could not use one yet even if you wanted to: connecting a bank is not available at the moment.
Wisemium works entirely from what you give it and confirm. You upload a bill or type the details in yourself, and everything after that works the same.
Tax and pay
Can Wisemium help me understand my tax code?
Yes. Give Wisemium your tax code and it will explain what it means, in plain words, using the meanings HMRC publishes.
It reads the code properly rather than pattern matching it: the letters, the number, whether it is a Scottish or Welsh code, and whether it is on an emergency or non cumulative basis. If a code is not one it can interpret, it says so instead of guessing.
Can Wisemium check whether my tax is right?
It can check the figures on your payslip against what those figures should be, and tell you whether they look consistent or worth checking. That is genuinely useful and it is honest about its limits.
It will not tell you your tax is wrong, state what you owe, or suggest your employer has made a mistake. Where something looks worth checking, it explains why and points you at HMRC, which is the only place that can actually change anything.
If it does not have enough information to check something, it says that plainly rather than producing a number it cannot stand behind.
Can Wisemium check my National Insurance?
Yes, for every National Insurance category letter, against the thresholds and rates for the tax year.
As with tax, the answer is a range rather than a single figure, because a payslip does not always contain everything needed to be certain. Where it cannot be certain, it says so.
Can Wisemium help if I have more than one job?
Yes. You can add each job you are paid through, and Wisemium will describe your combined position across them, including which job is carrying your personal allowance.
Having two jobs is one of the most common reasons a tax code looks surprising, and it is one of the situations Wisemium was specifically built to explain.
Can I upload my payslip and have Wisemium read it?
Not at the moment, and this is a deliberate decision rather than something unfinished.
Reading a payslip automatically would mean sending the whole original document to an outside service. A payslip carries your National Insurance number, your address and often your bank details, and we are not willing to send all of that away to save you some typing.
So you type the figures in instead. It takes a couple of minutes, everything else works exactly the same, and nothing leaves your control.
Will Wisemium contact HMRC or submit anything for me?
No, and it is not designed to. Wisemium explains, checks, compares and points you to the right place. It does not represent you, submit anything, make a claim, or contact HMRC on your behalf.
Where something needs changing, HMRC is where that happens, and Wisemium will tell you so and link you there.
My tax code changed and nobody told me. Can Wisemium spot that?
Yes, if it has seen your payslips. Wisemium compares one pay period with the last and can notice when something has moved.
This matters more than it used to. HMRC moved tax code notices to digital first in April 2026, so a change now often arrives in an online account rather than a letter, and the first many people see of it is a different amount in their pay.
Wise Assistant and what Wisemium notices
What does Wise Assistant actually do?
It is the part of Wisemium that reads everything you have confirmed, works out what is worth raising, and puts it in the order that matters. It is not a chatbot bolted on the side.
Its job is to turn a pile of household information into one clear thing to look at next, and to be able to show you why it raised it.
Does Wise Assistant give financial advice?
No. Wisemium is not a regulated financial adviser and does not give financial advice.
It explains what your own information says, tells you what it has noticed, and where a decision needs a regulated firm it routes you to an appropriate one rather than advising you itself.
Can Wisemium tell me what needs my attention first?
Yes. Prioritising is the point. Showing somebody eleven things that all look equally urgent is not much better than showing them nothing.
Wisemium works out which one genuinely deserves attention now, says why, and gives you a way forward where one exists.
Can Wisemium negotiate my bills for me?
Yes, for services like broadband and mobile. It is called Wise Negotiator. You ask Wisemium to take it on, and people at Wisemium do it on your behalf and come back with what they found.
It is worth being precise, because plenty of products imply otherwise: this is not an AI negotiating in the background. Wisemium’s intelligence spots the opportunity, gathers what is already known and prepares the case. The negotiating itself is done by people.
For regulated products, insurance, loans, credit cards and mortgages, Wisemium organises and reminds you, and routes you to an authorised firm. It does not negotiate those itself.
How does Wise Negotiator actually work?
Wisemium spots something worth acting on and explains why. If you want it taken on, you ask, and you give Wisemium permission to act for you on that specific thing. Nothing starts without that.
The request goes to the team, who pick it up and work it. You can see where it has got to whenever you look: received, started, in progress, waiting on you, or finished, along with when it last moved.
When there is an outcome you get it in Wisemium, with what was asked for, what happened and what it would mean, and you accept or decline it. Nothing changes on your account until you accept.
What can and cannot go to Wise Negotiator?
Household services where Wisemium can act for you, such as broadband and mobile, can be taken on.
Regulated financial products cannot. Insurance, loans, credit cards and mortgages are organised, tracked and reminded, and where a decision needs a regulated firm you are routed to an authorised one. Wisemium is not a regulated financial adviser and does not negotiate those on your behalf.
What do I control once I have asked Wise Negotiator to help?
All of it. The permission you give is for a specific thing, not a blanket mandate over your accounts.
Nothing is switched, cancelled or paid without you accepting an outcome first. If you decline, nothing changes. You can see the status at any point, and you will be told if Wisemium needs something from you rather than left wondering.
How will I know what is happening with my request?
In Wisemium, on the service it relates to. The status says where it has got to and when it last changed, so a quiet week looks like a quiet week rather than like nothing.
You will also get an email when there is genuinely something to know, such as an outcome being ready or Wisemium needing something from you. Those emails tell you to sign in rather than putting the details in your inbox.
Documents and evidence
Can I store documents in Wisemium?
Yes. Wise Vault holds the documents behind your household information, and they stay tied to the facts they support.
It is not general cloud storage. A bill you upload is read, turned into something Wisemium can act on, and kept as the evidence for it.
What happens to a document after Wisemium reads it?
It reads the document, shows you what it found, and asks you to confirm it. Nothing becomes a fact about your household until you have confirmed it.
Wisemium keeps what it detected and what you confirmed apart, on purpose, and can always show you which is which. If you later delete the document, the figures you confirmed stay, still marked as something you confirmed.
What if Wisemium cannot read my document?
You tell it what the document is and enter the details yourself, and everything downstream works exactly the same.
Manual entry is a complete path through Wisemium, not a consolation prize for when the clever part fails.
Money, control and privacy
Can Wisemium move my money or switch something without me?
No. Nothing changes on your accounts without your explicit approval: no switch, no cancellation, no payment.
Wisemium never holds your money. Where it helps you save towards something, the money stays where it is.
Does Wisemium track me around the internet?
No. There is no advertising technology on this site, no third party analytics and no cross site tracking, and browsing Wisemium without an account sets no cookies at all.
We measure how the site itself is used so we can improve it. That measurement is our own, it is never linked to your account, and you can object to it whenever you like.
Can I delete everything?
Yes, from Settings, without asking anyone. You can download a complete copy of your data, and you can delete your account and everything in it.
