Moving home

Moving home? Get the financial side sorted.

A move is a long list of small things with different deadlines: council tax at both addresses, a meter reading on the day, broadband that needs notice, insurance from the day you get the keys. Wisemium keeps them in one place, with their dates and their paperwork, and tells you what is worth doing next. Start with the postcode you are moving to. No documents needed, and no account until you want one.

Start with the postcode you are moving to

Wisemium tells you which council the address belongs to, and which company most likely supplies its water. Both are decided by where you live rather than by you, so neither needs asking. Anything it is not certain about says so, and you can correct it in one tap.

Council tax and water, on record from day one

Neither can be switched, and neither should be forgotten. Keep them in Wisemium with their bills and their dates, so the April council tax letter and the annual water bill arrive as something you expected.

Energy and broadband, understood before you commit

A new home usually starts on a deemed energy rate, which is a supplier’s default rather than one anybody chose, and gas and electricity can come from two different companies at the same address. Give Wisemium a bill and it reads the tariff, the unit rates and the end of any fixed term. When you are out of contract on broadband, it can show you what partners offer for your address.

Insurance, with the renewal date where you will see it

Contents and home insurance start the day you get the keys, and renew a year later by a letter that is easy to file and forget. Keep the policy in Wisemium and the renewal date sits with the schedule. When you want a quote, it takes you to an approved partner with the facts you have already confirmed.

Your tenancy or mortgage, kept as a record

The agreement, the deposit, the notice period, the renewal date. Wisemium keeps them and shows each date as needing attention before it matters. It never contacts your landlord or agent, and it gives no advice on a mortgage.

Every document in one place

The tenancy agreement, the deposit certificate, the meter reading photos, the insurance schedule, the first bill from each supplier. Your Wise Vault keeps each one with the item it belongs to, so in six months you know where to look.

The dates that decide things

Notice periods, contract ends, renewal dates, the first payment for each new account. Wisemium keeps the ones you give it in one place and puts the closest thing worth doing at the top, with the reason. You decide what to do about it.

If you are moving with someone

Household Share puts the same items, dates and documents in front of both of you, so the broadband contract and the tenancy agreement are not split between two inboxes. It assumes nothing about who you are to each other.

What Wisemium does not do

Wisemium does not switch your services for you. It shows you what is worth doing and you decide; nothing changes without you.

It does not go looking for your suppliers. It knows what you give it, which is why the picture is as complete as you make it.

It cannot list the individual flats or houses at a postcode. It works from the postcode and what you tell it about the address.

It is not a comparison site. Where a real market exists, such as broadband or a mobile plan, it can show you partner offers and take you through; where one does not, such as council tax or water, it says so.

And after the move

The point of setting it up once is that it keeps working. What you put in during the move stays: the items, their dates, the documents. When a fixed term ends, a renewal comes up, or a statement shows a price has changed, that is where you will see it. Wisemium is your financial manager after the boxes are unpacked, not a moving service.
