Broadband
Compare Broadband, Energy and SIM Deals: What to Check First
Review what you already have before you switch anything: the price you pay now, when each contract ends and what a new customer would pay. Broadband depends on your address, a SIM-only plan on the data you actually use, and energy on your tariff and its end date.
- Start from what you pay now
- Know each end date
- Compare like with like
Plans from the providers Wisemium works with. Wisemium does not provide broadband itself. Upload the bill or enter the details yourself; Wisemium keeps the price and the end date.

The full guide
Many UK households stay with the same providers long after their contracts end, and quietly pay more for it. Reviewing what you have is usually worth more than any single switch.
Why reviewing matters
Providers price their best offers for new customers. Once an introductory period ends, the price you pay often is not the price being advertised to somebody else for the same service.
Broadband
Different providers reach different streets, so availability depends on your address. Large UK providers include BT, Sky and Virgin Media. Wisemium lists broadband from a number of providers including BT, Zzoomm, YouFibre and Connect Fibre, and shows speed, contract length, setup cost and any future price step together.
SIM only
SIM only plans let you keep your phone and pay only for data, calls and texts. The four UK networks are EE, O2, Vodafone and Three, and smaller providers run on them. Wisemium lists plans from several providers so you can compare data, price and term.
Energy
Energy works differently. Wisemium does not list energy tariffs itself; it takes you through its energy partner journey, where the options you see depend on your address and may include suppliers such as British Gas. Wisemium keeps your current tariff and its end date on record either way.
What to check before you act
- The price you pay now against the price being advertised for new customers.
- Contract end dates, because that is when your options are widest.
- Price changes. Some contracts include a stated price increase during the term. Check the starting monthly price and any future price shown before you commit. Wisemium displays future price steps where the provider has supplied them.
- Setup or upfront costs, which are easy to overlook.
- Any reward or voucher, which is separate from the monthly price rather than a discount on it.
Wisemium may receive a commission if you take out a deal through a partner. It does not affect what you pay.
