Just Moved House in the UK? How to Choose the Right Broadband Without Overpaying
Check what reaches your new address before comparing anything, because options change by postcode. Choose a speed for the new household, read the contract length and setup fee, and order early: a new line or an engineer visit can take a couple of weeks.

The full guide
Moving into a new home in the UK comes with a long list of things to sort out, and broadband is usually near the top. It is tempting to pick the first deal you see just to get connected, but that can mean slow speeds or paying more than you should.
Check what your new address can get
Broadband options change by postcode, so a provider you used before may not be available at the new house. Check availability first, so you only compare packages you can actually have.
Think about the new home
A one bedroom flat with one person does not need the same speed as a family home with several devices. People moving house often either overpay for speed they do not need or choose a cheap plan that cannot keep up.
Read the contract
Most UK broadband deals run for 12 or 24 months, and the monthly price can move to a higher stated price during that time. What looks like a good deal today may cost more later. Wisemium shows the starting price and any future price step the provider has supplied, together, so you can see both before you sign.
How quickly do you need it?
Some providers take longer to install than others. If you work from home or rely on the internet daily, that matters as much as price.
Wisemium lists broadband from a number of providers, including BT, Zzoomm, YouFibre and Connect Fibre, and shows each package with speed, term, setup cost and any stated future price in plain English. It does not list every provider in the UK. Add your new broadband once it is set up and Wisemium keeps the contract end date on record for the next time.
Wisemium may receive a commission if you take out a deal through a partner. It does not affect what you pay.
