Landlord insurance

Letting a home changes what needs insuring and what needs certifying. Keep both, with their dates, in one place.

A let home comes with a policy that renews, a Gas Safety Certificate every 12 months and an EPC every 10 years. Wisemium keeps each one with its date, so the next one due is never a surprise.

Quotes come from an FCA-authorised comparison service, not from Wisemium. Wisemium does not give insurance advice.

Home insurance usually stops at letting

A standard home policy normally covers a home you live in. Tell your insurer before you let, and your mortgage lender too; landlord insurance covers the building, your furnishings and your liability as a landlord.

The certificates

In England a let home needs a Gas Safety Certificate renewed every 12 months, a valid EPC (which lasts 10 years) and an electrical safety report every five years.

Loss of rent

Some policies pay the rent you lose while the home cannot be lived in after an insured event. It is often an option rather than standard.

Common questions

Does Wisemium sell landlord insurance?
No. Wisemium keeps your policy and its renewal date on record. Quotes come from Quotezone, an FCA-authorised comparison service, and the policy is with the insurer you choose.
Can I use my home insurance if I let my home?
Usually not without telling the insurer. Most home policies cover a home you live in, not one you let.
Will Wisemium tell me when a certificate is due?
Its date is shown in Wisemium as needing attention before it arrives. Wisemium does not send renewal messages yet.
