Black Friday Phone, SIM and Broadband Deals: How to Tell a Real Saving

Black Friday 2026 is on 27 November. A phone, SIM or broadband offer is a saving only if the total over the contract is lower and you are free to take it without paying to leave your current one.

  • Check your end date first
  • Compare the contract total
  • Rises are stated in pounds and pence

Wisemium shows the end date before it arrives.

The full guide

Black Friday 2026 falls on Friday 27 November, with Cyber Monday on 30 November, and mobile networks and broadband providers often run offers in the weeks around them. A deal is a saving only if two things are true: the total you pay over the contract is lower than the alternatives, and you are free to take it without paying to leave your current contract.

First, check you are free to move

Leaving a phone or broadband contract before its end date usually means paying for the months that are left. Your provider has to tell you when the contract is ending, between 10 and 40 days before the end date, and that message also tells you the best price it can offer you from then on. If your contract ends in December or January, a Black Friday offer may still suit you: many providers let you order now and choose when the new service starts, but check before you order.

Keep my contract end date

Wisemium keeps the end date with the provider and the price, and shows it before it arrives.

Compare the total, not the monthly price

The figure to compare is the total over the whole contract: the upfront cost, plus the monthly price for every month, plus any rise the contract states. Two offers for the same phone can rank differently on the monthly price and on the total.

An example from two real offers, as iD Mobile stated them on 6 October 2026: an Apple iPhone 18 Pro, 256GB, with 100GB of data, on a 24-month contract.

Offer AOffer B
Upfront£29£199
Monthly price£56.99£44.99
Total over 24 months, before any rise£1,396.76£1,278.76
Stated rise£1.80 more each April£1.80 more each April

Offer B costs £170 more upfront and £12 less every month, so over the 24 months it costs £118 less in total. Both rise by the same amount each April, so the difference stays the same. Prices change, so check the seller’s page on the day.

Price rises are stated in pounds and pence

Since January 2025, a new phone or broadband contract must state any price rise during the term in pounds and pence, not as a percentage linked to inflation. The rise and the month it starts, often April, are in the offer’s terms, so you can add them to the total before you choose. Some providers state that the price does not rise at all during the contract.

Introductory prices, half-price months and reward cards

  • Introductory prices: a low price for the first months, then a higher one. On 6 October 2026 iD Mobile listed a 150GB, 12-month SIM at £6 a month, then £12 a month from the January 2027 bill. Use both prices in the total.
  • Reward cards and vouchers: usually claimed after the service starts, often within a deadline, and sometimes only if you stay for a set time. Count them only if you will meet the conditions.
  • Free gifts: worth what you would otherwise have paid for them, not the retail price.

Broadband: the price at your address, and the setup cost

  • The advertised speed and price may not be available at your address; the provider’s address check is the answer.
  • Setup, activation or router fees are part of the total.
  • Contract lengths differ, often 12, 18 or 24 months, so compare the same number of months.
  • Check the price after any introductory period, and any stated rise.

SIM only: a 30-day plan keeps you free

A 30-day SIM plan can usually be left with 30 days’ notice, so it never stops you taking a better offer later. A 12 or 24-month plan is often cheaper each month but ties you in. If you buy a phone outright on Black Friday, a SIM only plan alongside it is often cheaper over the same months than a phone contract: SIM only or a phone contract shows how to compare the two.

A short checklist

  1. Find your current contract’s end date and any charge for leaving early.
  2. Work out the total over the contract: upfront, every month, and any stated rise.
  3. Compare offers over the same number of months.
  4. Read the conditions on any reward card, voucher or gift.
  5. For broadband, check the price and speed at your address and any setup fee.
  6. Keep the new contract’s end date, so the next decision is on time.

How Wisemium helps

Add your phone, SIM or broadband plan to Wisemium and it keeps the provider, the price and the end date, so you know whether you are free to move before an offer appears. When you are, it shows current offers from its partners, each with the seller’s own price, upfront cost and any stated rise.

Common questions

When is Black Friday 2026?

Friday 27 November 2026. Cyber Monday is Monday 30 November. Offers often start earlier in November and some run into December.

Are Black Friday phone deals always cheaper?

No. Compare the total over the contract, including the upfront cost and any stated price rise, with the same phone or plan at other times and from other sellers. A lower monthly price with a higher upfront cost can be cheaper or dearer overall.

Can I take a Black Friday deal before my contract ends?

You can, but leaving early usually means paying for the remaining months. Your provider must tell you between 10 and 40 days before your contract ends, and many providers let you order now and choose a later start date.
