A variable-aperture main camera
The main lens moves between ƒ/1.48 and ƒ/4.0, so you can choose depth of field and let in more light at night. Apple states around 50% better low-light performance; the previous Pro’s main lens had a fixed aperture.
Longer battery life
Up to 43 hours of video playback, against 31 for the iPhone 17 Pro. Apple states up to six more hours on the Pro Max than on the 17 Pro Max.
8× optical-quality zoom
The telephoto reaches 100 mm and 200 mm equivalents (4× and 8×), a 16× range from the ultra wide; 48MP macro on the ultra wide.

iD Mobile writes a rise each April into the contract; the dates and amounts are the stated ones. Mozillion states no rise during the contract. There is no single total until you know your start date, so compare the risen figures, not the first month’s, and add the upfront payment of the way you choose to pay. - The cost with the rises. Where a contract states a rise, use the risen figures, not the first month’s, and add the upfront payment. A contract with no rise and a higher first price can cost less over the term than one that starts lower and rises.
- Outright instead? Add Apple’s price to 24 months of a SIM-only plan you would actually take, and set it against the contract with its rises included.
- Incentive conditions. The Apple subscriptions offer has eligibility rules; a trade-in bonus needs an eligible device. Read them before counting either as a saving.
- Coverage, cancellation and your number. Check the network’s own coverage checker; online purchases normally carry a 14-day cancellation period; text PAC to 65075 to move your number.
- The credit check. A pay-monthly phone contract normally involves a credit check by the seller when you apply. Approval is the seller’s decision; Wisemium does not see it or influence it.

How much does the iPhone 18 Pro Max cost in the UK?

Is the iPhone 18 Pro Max price different in London or elsewhere in the UK?
No. Apple sells it at one UK price, including VAT, wherever you live: from £1,299 for 256GB (Apple UK, 13 September 2026).
Is the iPhone 18 Pro Max worth upgrading to from an iPhone 17 Pro?
Apple’s stated differences are the variable-aperture main camera, the A20 Pro chip and battery life (43 against 31 hours of video playback). If your 17 Pro’s battery and camera still serve you, the case is weaker than it is from an older phone; the iPhone 18 upgrade guide works through it.
iPhone 18 Pro Max or iPhone 18 Pro?
Same chip, same cameras, same storage choices. The Pro is 38 g lighter with a 6.3″ display and 34 hours of video playback against 43, for £100 less outright. The decision page sets both out.
What happens to the monthly price during the contract?
It depends on the seller. iD Mobile states a fixed rise each April, with the amounts and dates shown above. Mozillion states no rise during the contract. Compare the options on what each costs over the whole term.
Will I need a credit check?
A pay-monthly phone contract normally involves a credit check by the seller when you apply, and approval is the seller’s decision. If you are new to the UK or have little UK credit history, the other route is to buy the phone outright and add a SIM-only plan. Some SIM-only plans are offered without a credit check; the seller’s page states which.
Should I buy outright instead?
Outright means £1,299 now (or Apple’s own finance at £43.30 a month over 30 months) plus a SIM-only plan of your choice, and no tie to one network for two years. A contract spreads the handset cost and bundles the airtime.
